Our staff have kept the wheels turning during lockdown.

Lockdown lowdown

At the beginning of Level 5 lockdown, SPCA Sandton had staff living on the premises full-time – being classed as an essential service means that our work could continue almost unhindered. A big thank you to our staff, we could not do this without you and we appreciate your sacrifices.

However, as Level 4 progressed, we were able to create a staff roster. Our clinic and kennels are still operating as normal and our charity store is open. Unfortunately, we are not yet allowed to open for adoptions. As soon as we are, we’ll be sure to shout it from the rooftops!

From the start of the COVID 19 outbreak, we instituted strict protocols in line with government regulations. Our staff were equipped with face masks and face shields, while details of visitors to the clinic and charity shop are recorded in a register. Strict sanitation processes remain in place for all visitors and staff.

Animal influx
Sadly, the first week of May saw the SPCA Sandton receive a total of 72 surrendered animals. As usual, all new arrivals receive a health check, medication if needed as well as preventative care in the form of vaccinations.

More blankets, towels, dry dog and cat food and infra-red globes are needed to help care for these animals. If you can help, please will you send your gift of warmth now?
