A hard start to life – Holly was born in Buccleuch in late October 2022. She bounced into the world with a spring in her step, expecting a life of pure joy – like every dog deserves.
What Holly didn’t know was that she was going to be given away to people who had other plans for her and her sibling.
Within days of being in her new home, Holly endured a horrendous and illegal operation – FULLY AWAKE and for the rest of her life she would be maimed, unable to communicate like a real dog.

Holly’s new owner had cut her tail off with scissors while she was fully conscious, and left the wound untreated.
A concerned member of public brought this crime to our attention and our Inspectors removed Holly and rushed her to a veterinarian for treatment.
Holly has a long road ahead of her, medically and emotionally – she is just a shell of what a puppy her age is supposed to be.
The trauma she has endured at such a young age has left her frightened and insecure, but we know with time and love – she will start to shine.
We have made a promise to Holly – we will get justice for her. A case is being opened against the callous people who harmed her and we will not relent until the perpetrators are brought to book!

We are dedicated to ensuring the rehabilitation and rehoming of Holly and to ensure that her perpetrators are prosecuted to the full might of the law.
TAIL MAIMING IS ILLEGAL – EVEN VETS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO AMPUTATE A DOG’S TAIL UNLESS IT IS FOR MEDICAL REASONS.
But these cases can take years with multiple court appearances and become very costly.
We recently won a case where a Pitbull named Elf had his ears maimed – this case took years and our Inspectors attended to court dates and meetings with the prosecution multiple times. Although this process is frustrating and expensive, it is necessary and we will never give up!
We won’t give up on Holly either, but we need your help!
